Costing a relatively low $115 million to make and perhaps another $70+ million to market, The Wolverine had a far better profit margin than X-Men: The Last Stand did on a $210 million budget plus likely $100 million in marketing costs. However, while only $43 million separates the two film's box office receipts, the production costs are another matter entirely. With a worldwide box office tally of $416 million, The Wolverine became the second-highest-grossing film in the X-Men franchise, behind only X-Men: The Last Stand's $459 million global take. Then, I'll give you my review, and let you hear what James Mangold had to say about the film, about samurai movies and westerns, and about creating the first-ever uncut version of an X-Men movie. So, let's talk about the financial numbers and what advantages this extended cut has on the home entertainment front. I've watched this new version of the film and spoke with the film's director, James Mangold, about it. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a real ninja battle! While that's not all that's in the offering on Fox's upcoming home entertainment release The Wolverine - Unleashed Extended Edition on December 3rd, it's sure to be one of the most important elements to fans.
